The Bottle Design of
Tarquins Cornish Dry Gin
The Product Brief
Yeghes Da!’ (‘Bottoms Up!’ in Cornish). With competition intensifying, Southwestern Distillery needed to move forward with a new flagship bottle appropriate for its range of Tarquin’s Gins, all crafted on the wild Cornish coast.
Realising a concept initially put forward by Buddy Creative, we crafted a slicker, more streamlined bottle, with a wider spout and a fuller base. The bottle in its entirety has an acid-etched finish to liken sea-glass found on the shores, equipped with a redraw embossed emblem, a suggestion of waves and a hand-signed label.
A vibrant, acid-etched finish applied to the entirety of the bottle is a bold and stunning decoration technique.

Our methods used in production
The Acid Etch Effect Spray is another sustainable decoration process which provides a frosted effect to a bottle. This method is the perfect technique to achieve a sea glass effect.

Step 1
Taken from the original illustration, we redrew Tarquin’s distinctive Puffin emblem. It was then meticulously sculpted in 3D to look as realistically as possible in glass.

We replaced Tarquin’s off-the-shelf carafe-style vessel with a custom made model. The wave design was developed in 3D to flow in and out of the bottle, akin to the currents off the Cornish Coast. Yeghes Da! is embossed on the base; a toast to the drink and to Cornish traditions.

Step 3
A silhouette was developed to take cues from the previous design; and the shape was further inspired by the wine bottle for a premium feel and an easy pour. The acid etched effect that encases the bottle is a tactile feature resembling sea glass.
